№ 203. BlackCat – free WordPress theme for cat lovers

BlackCat is a two-columns free WordPress 2.7 theme, with widgetized sidebar, fixed width, a minimal white-gray-black color scheme and a cute cat in the header.

Genesis

This theme was made on demand. One of my friends, very found about cats, asked me to design a  theme featuring a feline. And so I did. The cat in the header, as she noticed, ‘only has one ear’. But this depends on the way you look at it, the image being double (just like a kitty).

BlackCat’s features

• valid code (strict XHTML 1.0, CSS 2.1);
• SE friendly (extensive title tag, heading architecture, no duplicate content for paged comments);
• fixed width (990px);
• custom templates (404.php, archives.php, containing posts by category and by month, a tag clod and a TOC), page with / without comments);
• widgetized right sidebar;
• different styling for sticky posts and other wp generated classes;
• threaded comments, gravatars;
• some (3D) graphics;
• a minimal color scheme (white, black and gray);

Please note
BlackCat can only be used with WordPress 2.7 and above.
Usage

1. Download the zip archive containing the theme;
2. Extract the theme;
3. Upload the theme’s folder on the server (example.com/wp-content/themes directory);
4. Activate it (under the appearance section of your WordPress blog);
5. That’s pretty much it.

Licence
BlackCat is released under a GNU/GPL v.2 licence, which means you’re allowed to freely use, modify and distribute it, as long as you preserve this licence and the attribution.
