During the last couple of days, I’ve been developing an eco theme (I won’t talk about it right now, hopefully I’ll release it by the end of the week); and, while defining the theme’s concept, I googled “eco wordpress themes” and I received a few interesting and yet unsatisfactory results. So I decided to make a list of themes that suit an ecology-oriented blog.
NB The themes are listed alphabetically. I didn’t check their code, so you use them on your own risk.
1. Aqua Green

Aqua Green
Aqua Green is a 2-column theme, with a fixed width and clean design. The right sidebar is pulled to the top, in a rather retro manner.

2. Baloons on Green

Baloons on green
Baloons on green is a GNU/GPL theme that remained on the Theme Viewer after the massive revision we all remember. It has 3 columns (with a left and a right sidebar) and a trendy background image and header with circles (a very popular brush in Photoshop and Gimp).

3. Blue Green

Blue green
Blues Green is one of the first themes released at Blog oh Blog. It is a three-column fixed width theme. It isn’t quite stylish, but it loads fast.
4. Bus Full of Hippies

Bus full of hippies
The advantage in using this theme is that you won’t need to worry about the code: the Bus Full of Hippies uses the Sandbox theme that it embellishes with a colorful background image.

5. Cutline

Cutline
Cutline has been around for the last couple of years and I believe it will remain for at least a decade. What I like most at this theme is its generosity towards the user, who can modify it at will.

6. Green Apples

Green apples
A clean and very fresh 3-column theme that satisfies the conditions of being hosted at the Theme Directory.
7. Green Flower

Green flower
A stylish and delicate theme, with an unusual color palette and a right sidebar.
8. Jungle

Jungle
Jungle explores the tones of gray and the shadows of the night. I couldn’t tell why, but I really like it. In a sense, it’s the most ecological theme in this list.
9. Live Green

Live green
Live Green gives me a bizarre and tasty sensation (chocolate with mints), and I really hope the code is equally delicious.
10. Metamorph Hills

Metamorph hills
Metamorph Hills has a big header image, 2 columns (sidebar on left) and an odd navigation menu.

11. Misty Look

Misty look
Misty Look is one of the most popular WordPress themes ever designed and I’d be amazed if you haven’t heard of it yet. It has a beautiful header image, a right sidebar and a very clean design.

Great list! Thanks. I’m doing a lot more work with businesses trying to go green and these will help. I also wrote a piece a few days back about how white pixels on web sites cost more power to run than darker colors, there’s a great eco message there for your audience.
Great List – Think I will use number 4 for eco habitats
you rule!
