№ 28. Use your competitors to get valuable inbound links

So you have a blog with a great content, but rather unknown on the Internet. What should you do? Stop writing? Give up? Pay a SEO expert to analyze the lin structure of your competition? Well, nothing like that. All you need is commitment, some work and patience.

Step 1: Identify your competition
Whether you have a personal or a niche blog, there will always be a few other blogs providing related content. Even if you publish your literary works, or if you enjoy writing what you had for breakfast, there will be other people with a similar style. All you have to do is to make a list of your competitors (for the sake of the discussion, we’ll assume your blog-friends are competitors too).

Quick tip
Start the list with the bloggers who currently visit (and comment on) your blog.

Step 2: Check the inbound links of your competitors
How do you do that? Go to Google Search and type:
link:www.example.com
(don’t forget to replace “example.com” with the actual domain names).
Make a list of relevant sites linking to your blog-friends or blog-enemies.

Step 3: It’s lunch time – subscribe to feeds
Subscribe to the blogs linking to your competitors.

Step 4: Conversation time
Post relevant comments on these blogs. Avoid linking to your own content. Don’t forget to put a link in your signature.

Step 5: Be patient
If your content is great, and your comments are relevant, you’ll definitely get your linkshare. Just be patient and wait for the next pagerank update.

Final tip
Pease, don’t ask bloggers to link to your site using a certain keyword; you might get penalized.

PS. As you can see, this is a tutorial for newbies.
